As reported in Amusement Today, APX Operating Company LLC, acquired 16 family entertainment facilities, and retained Family Entertainment, Restaurant and Food & Beverage Turnaround Specialist Tim Murphy as a consultant. Today, Murphy is the CEO, and in nine short months he has taken the business from $10 million in the red to $8 million in the black.
The turnaround encompassed a comprehensive rebranding program, site and attraction improvements, menu additions and upgrades, revamped beverage offerings, and a back to basics maintenance and cleaning program. These actions were coupled with a review of the demographics to determine who frequented the parks, resulting in additional tweaks designed to appeal to young adults and corporations.
Refining entertainment venues is where Murphy excels, along with ensuring the facilities are well maintained and staffed with friendly and engaging team members who enjoy people and having fun.
